Florida dispensaries, officially titled “Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers” or MMTC’s, are what’s called vertically integrated. This is where a singular entity is responsible for the entirety of the supply chain of cannabis production. That means everything – from seed to sale – is planted, cultivated, processed, packaged, and sold by the same organization.
This is unlike most other states with medical cannabis, which employ what’s called ‘horizontal integration’, meaning different groups specialize in different parts of the supply chain of cannabis production.
